Hi Chez.
We're in bali now and staying next to the Istana , we use the money exchange next door to the Matahari at kuta sq , its a small shop front on the left side of the entrance .
Right outside her small shop is a guy with a stand that does sim cards and recharges .
i was there about 25 mins ago and got 9000rp to the Aud and put 50000rp on my sim card
If your son doesnt want to walk then just grab a Bluebird cab , Its about a 20 min cab ride due to one way streets and will cost him about 15-20K ( less than $3aud ) then just grab another cab back which will run at about 10-15K ..
