from the foundry where they are made....Our Daughter asked us to check them out! what an eye opener. We seemed to be banging gongs all over the place but had this address of the foundry and got our driver Adi to take us there....SINDAH KARYM, Blahbatu, around KlungKung ? They make all the Gamelan instruments.
We paid 4,500,000rp (+ Credit card charge of 110,000rp) The sound is beautiful very different from the "tourist" gongs!!! It is not a huge gong probably about 26"-30" diameter, but is a beauty! Hand beaten....you can even see them being made.
Icould not tell you how to get there if my life depended on it!! But if you are interested I can give you the ph.no of Adi and he may remember where he took us....even though he got a bit lost getting us there!!
My Daughter reckons it was money well spent, it is her front door bell!! She lives up on a hill and it is amazing how wonderful it sounds....resonates all over!! :) Deb
