Have always taken cask wine with us as not big beer drinkers or spirit drinkers. Usually buy the 5 litre cask from Woolies or Liquorland (When on special & can usually get 2 for $20 - Berri) and keep the receipt in my purse with $5, $10 & $20 Australian. This is packed in the case & when we get to customs explain, if asked that we have a cask, show them the receipt and offer $5 or $10 bucks Australian - works everytime. We also have duty free allowance which I make my partner carry & he goes through before me. Even if we pay $20 (which we haven't had to as of yet - it is worth it). If they were to make me pay duty on the whole lot I would just gladly hand over the cask - after all $10 won't break the bank. I think they prefer the Aus $ in preferance to the wine
