Just read your message and thought I would advise that we brought 4 framed paintings back from Bali thru to Adelaide last time we went, and will mostly probably bring some more back when we go again next week.
We just bought some tape and bought some soft corrugated cardboard from one of the painting places, some string for handles and it worked great! Also, we sprayed the frames with mortein just to make sure we had no insects.
