I have been checking this forum out for quite awhile and have been reluctant to post but absorbed all the great info that is available. On our last trip we have recently happened upon a great villa in the best street for shopping (well I think so anyway) Double Six. 2 airconditioned bedrooms which both included large tvs with dvd players and ensuites .. these spacious villas included a large open living area, kitchen, elevated ceilings in a very quiet and private location considering how close to the shopping
mecca of Double Six.. with products pretty different to the regular stuff you see everywhere and for those who know is wholesale heaven. The name of the villa I am reluctant to reveal as the price is so cheap for this private villa which at this time is only $60.00 per night and no extra charge per person... included Made picking us up at the airport ..the owners have told me that improvements are scheduled including private pools. We love local food and always look for the best warungs. Warung Murah down the road offer the best value for tasty local food, I love chicken and especially nasi campur, that is definately my favourite meal in Bali. Our villa provided a driver Made and he took us around to our favourite destinations like Monkey Forest in Ubud..sorry I have a fascination for monkeys that borders on obsessive..we also did our regular drive out to check the waves at Ulus where I had my swim after that magic walk down through the cave..After my visit to Docter Rudi the dentist (information gathered here) for dental work which is about a third the cost of Aus...I sampled the best food at Warung Warung.. which after you visit the dentist.. I know maybe difficult if you just have a filling.. but the best food, which is like a buffet and you can choose the treats you like..overall one of the best trips we have had but one more note ..for those who love a local feel and escape from the tourism..go down the end of Jalan Kartika past Waterbom and Centro shopping mall and at the end of the road turn right down to the beach .there are heaps of local boats which you can very cheaply hire for a boat cruise and then sit in one of the local warungs and have a corn on the cob coooked over hot coals and a meal at warung and watch sunset with the locals in Tuban ..really special..If you want any more detail I have left my email open and would love to share our best trip ever..
