that you shouldn't worry about malaria, but at the moment you should be more worried about dengue fever which is becoming more prevalent throughout Bali.

The thing to remember about dengue is that it is carried predominantly by a daytime mosquito, so don't make the mistake of covering up and spraying only at dusk. To be safe you should be thinking about around the clock protection from mozzies, and of course don't go trekking through rice paddies, swamps and jungles without being extra careful.

Last year, I was talking to a women at my hotel who contracted dengue. She was laid out for a week and she hadn't even set foot outside Sanur the whole time, so you can get it anywhere, anytime.
