If you must have a wallet then get one that hangs from your neck & can't be seen under your shirt (but afficiandos of Bintang singlets might have a problem). As has been said, keep the money you think you'll use in a front pocket. Beats me though why anyone would go out at night with a wallet full of money, cards etc.
In fact, guys in particular should use a neck wallet at all times (usually they rely on the back pocket which is an easy target) - very hard to get into without strangulation. I use one or a money belt especially when travelling between destinations or if I am out at night. I always have my shoulder bag strap across my chest & walk against the traffic flow.
Simple, basic common sense would save people a lot of stress & loss.
