Hi Tahlia. I don't think this is any kind of witch hunt or smear campaign. There is no activity at the hotel when I ride past every day other then staff sitting around doing nothing & the carpark full of the hotel cars. I haven't seen a guest out the front or across the road at Circle K for 1 - 2 weeks. I would always see people out the front, coming & going before.
I don't know why they are telling your agent that there are "no issues". There is an official sign at the front of the hotel (in English & Indonesian) put there by government dept (forget the name of it).
I don't know when your booking is for but I wouldn't be sending too much money to them if I was you.
If I see anything different happening there I'll post on here.
