It was remiss of me not to clarify further regarding the driver and van from Bali Baby Care. I have actually written more positive things about them in the drafts of the other parts of my JBR, I just forgot that these comments would not be seen with this post.
I was more than happy with the communication from Roger who owns BBC. He had warned me that the airport pick-up would be a tight fit, but reassured me that it was only a short trip to the Holiday Inn (which it was). We had agreed that this trip would be an "evaluation" of sorts, to determine whether the van would be suitable for our longer trip to Ubud. After the airport pickup I decided that we wouldn't go ahead with the BBC van for our Ubud trip for a number of reasons, including (but not primarily because of) the size issue.
I believe that BBC now have a new van specifically for families, so it would be well worth enquiring with them if you are taking a family to Bali. I found their prices to be very reasonable and their communication excellent. I would use them again. Cheers, Elle.
