This is my first attempt at a JBR so I will try to keep it from being too long. Hope the info helps someone out.
We set off for 3 weeks in paradise, flying Pacific Blue direct from Brisbane. Flight was fine, actually arrived 30 mins earlier than scheduled. Arrived, then put on the bus to the terminal. All business taken care of in the airport in around 20mins (the fastest in all of my 10 trips) and in our taxi to the Green Garden Hotel.
We were given a room on the second level - lovely hotel, great staff, breakfast was fine and dishes changed daily. The pool was a lovely temperature and never any trouble with lounges. Highly recommend this hotel and will definately be returning. Spent 7 nights here.
From here we went to Gili T for the first time. Used Blue Water Express for the transfer. Cost was $1M RP each return. Trip there was fine, coming home was very rough.
Stayed at Alam Gili, well what a find. A bit out of the main part of town but a perfect hotel and excellent staff. We could only have a fan cooled room, so we did feel the weather. Rained a few afternoons, we spent 5 nights here.
From here we ventured to Ubud and ended up shopping around for a hotel, as we were booked into Greenfields however did not even think to ask if the room had a bath, it did not have one so we ended up at The Sunti. Would not recommend this hotel. I could not wait to leave, poor staff(some of them were fine) and food, skipped breakfast a couple of mornings. Ended up The Kaf on a regular basis.
After five nights in Ubud we returned to Tuban at the Green Garden Beach Resort and Spa in a ground level room. Would highly recommend this hotel. There was the mini earthquake whilst here. Lovely pool area and great staff, the spa was extra special also.
Main restaurants to mention are
- The Boardwalk Cafe at the Bali Garden Hotel, especially the shanks. We enjoyed two lovely meals here, including my birthday dinner, they brought out dessert with a candle and sung happy birthday to me. Their desserts were perfect also.
-The Treehouse in Poppies 1 - very cheap
-Flapjacks for desserts - one between two people is heaps
-Gloria Jeans for a great coffee and cake - the second level with AC and free internet is a great rest stop in between shopping.
-Food Court at Discovery - great variety and cheap and ocean views on the balcony.
Did a bit of shopping, went to Ketuts in Legian, so much easier at set priced shops.
Bagus Watches a must for bling.
Used porters when leaving Bali and they were great. Paid 20000 RP for two of them and they lifted our heavy luggage from the drop off in our transfer van, to the weigh in at check in. This is the first time I have ever used porters, gosh what I have been missing, I will use them every trip from now on.
No problems with the flight home.
Looking foward to our next trip, hopefully four weeks next time.
