Jadi was only up the lane from Villa Mimpi so it was definitely on my "must do" list as I had read many conflicting reports about it. My opinion was very mixed. I went there on my very own that day and thought it would be good considering I had read reports on lengthy wait times for the food to come out.
Well... firstly there is only ONE menu in the place so thank God I was the only one in the cafe! There appeared to be lots of seafood dishes on the menu. I ordered this fish dish with ginger, garlic and lemongrass. As soon as I ordered it I was told that this particular dish would take a long time to cook because it was prepared all from fresh ingredients (well aren't they all??). The young waitress tried to get me to order the Borneo Fish as it would only take 5 mins but the fish dish that I requested could take 20 mins. After telling her about 3 times that I definitely wanted my choice and was prepared to wait the 20 mins if thats all it took!
Ordered a bintang...came out like it was just put in the fridge to cool.!!!! Not a good start to my lonesome lunch!
30 mins later..still no meal so had to go and holler the young waitress from out the back somewhere...(still nobody else in the cafe) and ask how long before my meal would arrive. "soon, still cooking, maybe only 5 mins". Well I waited that long, why not another 5 mins. 10 mins later still no meal. I decided that to give it another 5 mins then I was out of there..considering I was the only person in the damn place.
Lucky ..5 mins later my meal arrived - so that took 45 mins to cook!!
Was it worth waiting for? Yes..food was absolutely delicious! Would I go again? No! I think the wait times are far too long...imagine if the 5 of us would have went there for lunch.
Also...it wasn't cheap by any means as was mentioned on the forum a few times. I think I paid about 75000.
Glad I gave it a try but wouldn't be back.
