Hi, in the past we have done a couple of great walks around Ubud, we stay there every trip now, my husband likes the peace etc too. The Tegal Sari Hotel does what they call An Early Morning Walk. It is a guided walk starting in Keliki village and on through rice fields and beautiful country side. Its on their web site, and you can book I think even if you are not staying. We have also done a bike ride, many companies have them and it was a great day out. There are many walks, indicated on most maps of the Ubud area, these are a great way to see the area and there is usually places to stop in on the way around. Try the guide books etc, there is a walk that starts by the Palace and takes you through the rice fields behind, and finishes near the Sari Organik, a lovely cafe in the rice paddies, this is another great walk to do in the morning. We love staying in Ubud, the food is great and the pace is relaxing. Have a great trip.
