The hardness of the "mixed" gold will be determined by the percentage of pure gold and the alloys with which it is mixed (These alloys also create the final colour of the gold to suit different markets).
The 18ish carat gold that is normal in Jalan Hassanudin is in my view a much superior product to some of the 9 carat bling sold in Australia.
If you want a more European style of product (including some 9 carat stuff), Mayang next to Matahari in Kuta Square have a much more tourist oriented stock that Jl. Hassanudin.....at a higher price too).
