yes I think Mic is correct. They are often quicker than a taxi in peak times because they can squeeze down in between rows of cars and also go against the flow of traffic on most one way streets.
If you are a female though you may want to consider the safety angle of being a lone female on the back of a strange guy's bike in the wee small hours. I know many do use this very convenient method of transport from the clubs and I am sure (as in the taxi industry) the vast majority of the drivers are straight up but.......A decision that is up to the individual I guess.
