one time my step-daughter was visiting us with her baby and was sitting on the beach in Lombok. A kind hotel guest came up to her with a bag of clothes and offered them to her. She said no thanks and was completely perplexed at even being asked. She didn't work in the tourist trade, and was wearing jeans and t-shirt sitting under a tree on the beach. Unfortunately the clothes were not even in good condition, and being young, she was also quite ungracious about the whole thing.
