One of my favourite things to do is eat at one of the warungs directly on the beach - there's nothing like sitting at a table with a great meal, a bintang and the sand between your toes. These can be found all along the beach . There is a wonderful paved walkway which you can either ride or walk along.
Towards the northern end there are markets - towards the southern end on a Sunday the locals get together to eat, swim and have fun.
On the main street which runs parallel with the beach there are shops selling upmarket clothes as well as the usual Bali T-shirts. My favourites are Ibisa for beautiful European fabrics in European sizes and Mokea.
These are on the same side of the street as the famous Hardy's supermarket which has three levels. The best way of checking out prices for some of the things you will see in markets and other shops is to see if they have them for sale in the supermarket section of Hardy's. Nearly every time you will find them cheaper than in other places or it gives you an idea of what you can bargain/haggle.
There are a wide range of places to eat and you would have to be extremely unlucky to find a dud meal. My all time favourite is Charming on the same side of the street as the Hyatt.
There are massage places, tailors, dvd shops, tour guides and cafes.
Best of all Sanur is usually a bogan free zone.
