Suzie B.... my daughter and I take up to 50 kgs of linen to Bali each time we go. (We fly Strategic with a 23kg allowance)
It goes to Bali Kids where it is distributed if need be to other needy Panti Asuahans. It is not unusual for me to take up to 100 pillowcases, a dozen good towels (cost $2) and a dozen sheets (they are the heaviest)plus 20 handtowels.
That leaves me with money to buy a trolley load of food when I get there Be aware not to give direct cash. It is always more fun anyway to present the gifts yourself
I regularly go to Op Shops and buy good quality pillowcases for 50 cents and single bed sheets or doona covers for around $6.00. Hand towels for 50 cents or a $1 are also well received.
I feel the texture of each one and judge how it would feel to sleep on in the high humidity, I check for any faults, no iron, and collect only the quality that I would sleep on. You can tell that I now have it down to a fine art!!
Many friends can also come up with great offerings from their own cupboards if you put the word out.
Well done for choosing Bangli.
It is my personal passion to encourage visitors to Bali to take as much as they can to give away. More often than enough, the average Oz household has far more in it than it needs anyway. Often no need to buy anything.
