We prebooked.. mainly because with 6 months to go everything else had been booked, and I needed something to do to make the holiday feel closer. haha!
I don't know how things will go in October, but despite it being school holiday season, and apparently busy, the resort was almost empty. The Tsavo lion restaurant was mostly vacant for both dinner and breakfast also.
If you are staying overnight, I'd book before you leave so you don't miss out. If you are just going for the day wing it. :)
A tip however... bring a book to read or something, because after 7pm there is nothing to do, well except for watching tv and that was on cartoons to keeping Master 2 happy!
