i was looking almost on the Garuda sight every day, since late october 2010. It went up and down and I am flying end July to 1st wk August. Including end July was cheaper than flying there in August. I went to STA expecting to pay $839, paid without credit card so saved fees here as well. STA also have discounts for under 25( not me) or student .I reserved it early Nov and paid deposit, and in full Jan this year. I never book so far in advance for any flights but it has paid off. From memory it wasn't even a sale or anything like that.
I checked the sight after I booked seemed to go up each week after I booked so I think the earlier you book the better. When did you book? i am sure even in Dec / Jan2011 I saw it for just under $900.
