Air by boat from Bali. Most boats go to Trawangan and once there you are at the mercy of the boat cartel who have fixed the price for the very short distance from Trawangan to Air at rp300,000 and no boats will negotiate otherwise. There is a public boat but it doesn't leave until 4pm. I think a more convenient and cheaper option is to fly to Mataram and taxi either to Senggigi and negotiate a boat from there directly to Gili Air or to the harbour and get a public boat across. I can hook you up with someone who can help you with a boat from Senggigi if you are interested. As for accommodation, my favourite at the moment is Juliantos by the Sea. juliantos@hotmail.com
