You may have missed it while you were away but 2 passengers were frogmarched off a Jetstar MEL-DPS flight last Thursday because the aircraft had to take on extra fuel due to bad weather, resulting in it being too heavy. Captain asked for volunteers, when and no-one volunteered the last 2 on were asked to leave... they refused and so they were removed by Federal Police.
I think AA's solution, whilst not ideal, was a far better option at least all passengers got to Bali for their Easter holiday.
