Just to add some confusion to this discussion.. Carrefour also operates in Thailand and my wife (who's Thai)pronounces it as "Carfoo"
PS - They had some good specials when we visited the one on Sunset Road a few days ago.. Pity the savings were gobbbled up by the 50,000 Rp fine I got for going through a red light up near Bali Galleria on the way back to my Hotel!
