Safari Park is wheelchair freindly with ramps everywhere . In the main Bali is not wheelchair freindly , however the people themselves (local) go out of their way to help out where they can . We stay over in Benoa and are very accustom to the area . Footpaths are difficult to negotiate in wheelchairs and as hollidaze says the road is sometimes the only option and I agree whilst it a dangerous thing to do given the Bali traffic you will find the Balianese drivers more than curteous . You have to remember people in wheelchairs are not a very common sight in Bali and do attract some attention it's mainly out of curiosity and not ment to offend . What we have done when we take our wheelchair bound son is to have the one driver for all outings including the dreaded shopping trips . The driver we have had for the last 4yrs has been and always remain an absolute diamond . Even though we have told him repeatedly that our son can push his own chair he insists that it is his job . I can not pay enough respect and gratitude to the people of Bali for the respect they show for people in wheelchairs (tourists) yes their attitude towards their own may be different but I personally haven't seen this . All I have seen is at all times offers of assistance and freindliness.
