Woke before 4 but managed to stay in bed until 6.00.dozing on and
off. Got husband up and we went for a wander down to the beach.
A quiet day ahead as we have a big borthday dinner planned in Kuta this evening.Took a few photos and found Cafe Kesuma which we had obviously passed last year and not seen.
After brakfast we catch a taksi to the Duckz Nuts so we can look around and try to find a hairedresser I had read about. No luck and I've left the info at home so can't double check it. we ahve a bit of a wander , find some shops we'd explored last year. See a local market gate way where last year we'd bought some beautiful sarongs for a good price but decide this year not to go in. We cross the road and walk back towards our start point. Ther is a sign on a coffee shop called something like "the glass house" it claims to ahve teh best coffee in bali according to Trip Advisor. Of course we have to test it out as we think our G coffees are pretty darn good. They certainly look teh part when they eventually arrive. But they are much mreo expensive and pretty insipid. See blog for pics and further comment.
Out of teh cafe we head back up towards S beach. A few phoeots later and we turn towards the beach. I see Fredyas leather which is mentioned on the forum. we don't stop as we don't need anything. Wander down towards the beach. I see 2 cocks in separate woven cages. I wonder if they are fighting cocks but don't say anything. I haven't mentioned to hubby about there beng cock fighting in Bali.
We spend soem time down at the beach and huby is able to get a button shirt to fit. We ahve cold drinks at the Tooties bar. and then its time to head back. Up to the main street and a taksi to Hardys for supplies. rather expensive this time we spend over 300, 000. More chips, cool, drink, oreos, water, and a some moee toothpaste, hand sanitiser( its so cheap) and even some shampoo I'd heard of.
Then its back to the rooms.
I'm off for my first ever massage. a food and calf massage whcih turns out to be wonderful. 80,000 for 1 hour. Ani came recommended by our neighbours at the G. She is within walking distance. she doesn;tp expect or want much conversation despite her good english. She tries to tell me to sleep, but I can;t. However I do get very relaxed. I could imagine driopping off to sleep quite easily if it was in my nature to do so.
afterwards walkign back to teh G of course she wants me to go into her shop. Feelign weak I agree, knowing I can't spend much as I only have a small amount of cash with me. She tries to get me to buy a lacy blouse but h I prefer anyway. My arms are too big. Out come the mens style shirts which I prefer anyway. She only has 3 colours in my size. a dirty off white, a chocolate brown and a black. I try on the white for size. Perfect. "Look in the mirror," she insists. Yes it fits well. It is good. We negotiate. I really don't want to spend much, all the time thinking about price in Australia. I ask to try on the brown. Much better. we agree on a price. I know it has to be about 40 above the best price I could pay judging on what I think we manged to pay for something almost same last year. BUT it is still a good price. So we agree. I might even return for more if she can get in more colours. At least I know what size I am now.
My feet still feel like heaven. They and my lower legs are not swollen, a first for many months. I stagger back to the room with my purchase feeling very pleased with myself. I will be having more foot massages before we go home.
Time for a quick change before we head to Kuta for dinner at Kori's. See the blog for details.
