Hi Ladies and Gents,

The weather yesterday (Sunday) was sunny and hot. Quite scorching really. The perfect weather for lazing by a pool, icy cocktail in hand, before having a lovely afternoon siesta.

Not that I got to test out this theory. Instead we braved the heat and headed to Garlic Lane, and Ketuts!

Firstly let me state that there is not a pool noodle to be found on Garlic Lane. I was quite devastated.

I consoled myself by spending a lot of time at Ketut's... hubby was having palpitations... and after an hour of tossing item after item into an ever increasing mountain of purchases, I was quite sure he was going to expire from terror!!

That however was nothing compared to my horror and amazement at what I learnt to be husband dearests bargaining technique. It goes something like this:

"You like 'item' Sir.. is good.. only 350k". Hubby's response.. "Oh.. yeah.. umm.. okay ummm.. thats good but ummm.. 320k?"

This is for a pair of sunglasses that you can usually pick up for 15-20k.

They saw him coming... I shall not say anymore (especially to him, he's a little sore about it!).

I don't remember all the prices, but toddler sized t-shirts, singlets and board shorts were 15k, larger kids t-shirts 20k, and little girl dresses varied from 18k to 25k.

Further shopping (at a shuffle pace) was limited to a single shop on Jl Melasti where I picked up a gorgeous hardwood carved wall panel for 300k. I'm very tempted to go back and pick up another for a matching pair (at least then I can strap them together for shipping.. right now I have NO idea how I'm getting my panel home!)

We got driven around to Tommys (closed for Sunday.. oops), and decided to eat across the road at Posers Bar. The Sate was delicous, and everyone enjoyed their reasonably priced meals.

I do however have to say that the Hawkers hanging over the balustrade trying to tempt Master Two into a screaming fit by dangling bright shiny thingies in front of him, or giving him toys I'd already said no to did not go down well with me... I don't mind them asking me.. but riling up the anklebiter is not okay.

After returning to our Villa, and sending the older generation off for massages, pedicures and a snooze, we drove down to Blue Ocean for dinner.

Once again, nice but not quite perfection. I ordered the Salt and Pepper Calamari. The Calamari was really tasty, but unfortunately quite chewy. The star of the meal was the Profiteroles, yummy! For 7 people - dinner, desserts, and many, many cocktails, it came to just over 1 million rupiah.

Nyoman was so kind to pick us up and return our mobility challenged members to the Villa at 8pm, and a few hours later sleep descended upon as all.
