did the same same, stayed at xmas/ny and did all negotiations via email, just told them my flight number and arrival date etc, got a taxi there myself. stayed for two weeks, was great.
paid on last day in full, no deposit, no downpayment no nothing.
they are very relaxed there, to the point that some people say they are rude.... they just aren't that excited to see you LOL, after all your number 1 billion something person visiting! haha
