Hiya Grandad...

The laneway the Villa is situated on could use a re-pave, but its quiet and only very short so no great difficulty to navigate. It is rather narrow, 1 van width only, but we haven't had a problem yet.

To get to the beach, you walk the 50 meters to the end of the laneway, turn right onto the narrow and a bit run down Jl Werkudara, and walk for a further 70ish metres until you hit where Kumala Pantai hotel starts. There's a narrow laneway on the right. Its not wide enough for a van, has high 20foot brick walls either side, is brick paved and startlingly well maintained given the state of the street it leads off.

Walk single file. There are scooters zooming up and down regularly, and you don't always hear them coming. While it is lit, if travelling at night take a torch, it gets really dark in spots.

I'd say the laneway is no more than 500 metres long, though I've never been known for my ability to judge distances so please don't quote me. Either way, its an easy stroll for most, and even those in my group who really are not good for long or short distance walking made it to the beach trouble free.

Hope this helps, I'll try to post more about Villa Baliana after we've been here a few days, but so far its coming up trumps!

Regards,

BaliDaze
