the password for using the free wireless should just be a straight out " add the password" thing. You sound like you are having problems with a website email perhaps that you are trying to log into? it's obviously not setup for phone viewing. Assuming that its a familiar site you are logging into you are just going to have to remember where to go when navigating the page. its not the iphone that's causing the problem but the page you are trying to log in to.
I used my iphone in bali last year without any dramas on the free wifi in pubs etc. and will be doing so next week again. ?Including using this sitew and posting here.
