One thing I had to do before delivering the wheelchair was to asemble it or so I thought. I asked the GM at Novotel if I could use the workshop only to find that the whole job had been done for me. The wheelchair was donated by Wheelchairs For Kids a company run by Rotary and Christian Brothers. I got on to them through my brother in law who does voluntary work there. When I collected the chair they were busy filling a container for children in Ghana. First thing I did on return to Perth was to take photo's of the boy with his new chair to them.
We made an early start from Tanjung Benoa, a good job we did as the weather was really bad, dark clouds and torrential rain. Again in company of four Balinese Beauties. There was very little to see on the way to Kintamani the rain eased but did not stop. All in all it was a drty morning.
We were almost at the top of the mountain when the weather cleared. We did a U turn off the main road down to Lake Batur. The scenery is beautifully stunning, the mountains surround the lake, I was gob smacked with the outlook and was really looking forward to meeting Charliebalibear. We made our way down to the hotel, had a Bali copi
and drove toward the village of Buahan. I had taken photo's but it wasn't the best day for it. There is a web site www.c-bali.com with pictures you can see for yourself how stunning it is.There is also a photo of the family with the wheelchair on the web.
Charliebalibear is one busy lady and she only had half an hour for us
but that was no problem. We met her at the entrance to the village, she was on her bike with her husband and we followed to the house where the family live.Charliebalibear answered my posting a couple of weeks back when I was looking for a needy child for the chair. I was delighted when she replied because I was aware of the good work she does in the villages there and had no doubt that the chair would find the kind of placement that it was intended for. Yoko is growing and is becoming rather heavy for his parents to carry him around.
The father is John, his son's name is Yoko and that is who the chair was for. I met Mum and the rest of the family but I was so taken up with things that the rest of the family names escape me.The house is situated on the shore of the lake, John is a farmer, his crop this time is onions.
The chair was duly handed over, poor Yoko was shy with so many people
around, the thing is that he is now mobile, Mum and Dad can get him around with ease. It was lovely meeting the family and I was quite humbled by it all. I have no intention of discussing his disability.
I was very moved by the situation as were my beautiful Bali ladies.
I was a bit saddened to leave but all good things come to an end and in any case I will be back there in June with my grand daughters.
The rain had cleared and we were on the way to Pengplipuran, another gem. Penglipuran is a 700 year old village. One main street runs through the village and the family compounds are on each side of the road, there is no traffic, just pedestrians, the temple is at the top of the hill. It's a unique and beautiful place, there are homes that are open, you can see the living areas, kitchens, family temples and day beds, go and have a look, it's well worth getting off the main road.
By the time we got into Ubud and had a very late lunch it was time to leave for Tanjung.
Friday. Had a massage, slacked around the hotel, went into Kuta in the evening to watch the footy in The Stadium. Carlton v Collingwood.
I always thought that you could take your kids to see the footy without a lot of problems. Real pity about the bogan Pies fans.
That's almost it, there is nothing stopping you from visiting Amlapura
or doing a bike ride around the lake if you are so inclined. You can email me for the orphanage details or go to the web site I mentioned for the bike rides.
Any Mums in need of a professional Nanny or baby sitter try
Ayu 081 7979 7801 if she wasn't good and reliable I wouldn't dare recommend her.
Thanks for your kind words and thoughts, thankyou to those who do visit the orphanage, long may it continue. You have made such a differance to those children.
My goodness me, I almost forgot. Gator from Clackline donated a wheelchair too, thanks mate, well done, Charliebaliebear is having a meeting to see where it can be best placed. Don't worry, she will do it well for you.
