Arrived wed. night. 5 of us and 1 surfboard. Thought we would just get 2 cabs at airport to Puri Bambu in Jimbaran bay which was 60,000rp each taxi - until they said surfboard would be an extra 100,000rp. So asked for money back and got a van driver. Never been charged extra for boards before so next time will organise in advance. It was better to all travel together anyway.
It has rained heaps the last 2 mornings. So we have caught the hotel free shuttle to where it drops you at bemo corner. Ate at Poppies restaurant, which was great as usual. All the girls did plenty of shopping of course especially the teens. We have many friends holidaying over there at the moment, so we only catch up during the day as we are scattered all over the place at the moment.
Puri Bambu is a lovely quiet hotel down a lane about 5 minute walk from the beach. They are renovating at the moment, building a new reception and restaurant. Wifi not working at the moment. t is meant to only work at the restaurant while renovating and cost is minimal at 55,000rp for 10 hours. So on hotels computer room instead. Hotel food very reasonably priced. Pool nice and refreshing.
There is a massage room, so we get our feet massaged for 45 minutes before bed.
Ate at PepnNero last night at temple Hill. Beautiful Italian food, and used hotel set price transport back instead of taxi which was fine.
Today went to Tommy's in Legian for their famous 10,000rp iced coffee and of course a cornbeef and salad fresh roll. Usually we don't go until the end of our trip, but it was our meeting point for the kids at lunch.
Tonight ate at Jepkung Cafe at Jimbaran which is in section 1 - closest to airport. Food was nice but jimbaran prices. You order by the weight of course - what ever that may be, but it also includes the rice, accompanying sauces, spinach and dessert which was fruit. It worked out roughly in the end for us at about $23AUD a person with drinks. We ate calamari and prawns tonight.
Most restaurants will do free pick up and return to their restaurants, so our friends in Tuban got a free shuttle back to their hotel. Probably will try the restaurants in the 2nd section closer to Keraton Hotel.
Checked out Segara Hotel at Tuban and Keraton Hotel - but gardens only - Keraton beautiful.
Also when we were in Legian we checked out our next resort Kumala. It is a BIG building going up next door, but who cares! We don't spend much time during the day to worry.
Also looked at Villa Damai - Beautiful!!
Hoping to take some 1st timers (weather permitting to Ulu, GWK and Geger tomorrow)
