It is disappointing, but Legian has changed - as highlighted by the "new" clientle at the Kumala Pantai Hotel in recent years.
My personal opinion is that Kuta has a more diversified & eclectic tourist population these days (though still a poor reputation) whilst Legian has a recent, strong "bogan" theme, for the want of a better description.
Others may disagree... (Just my thoughts based on my observations).
