Just flew back from Bali via Singapore with three kids ( 5 , 3 , 1) wouldn't recomend it with kids but like the other user said if you can get at least five hours there see the sights or just hang out at the airport. It's about three times the size of say southland!! It's got this great bar on the roof in terminal 1 where you can kick back have a beer and a smoke!! If you venture out to singapore though you may have to pay visa exit and entry fees how much I don't know.
