Indonesians pay less than 500,000 for a month - how could they rent for 2m whe they only earn 1.5m/month?
It comes down to what you need in a room :) Most of the cheaper rooms are just that, with shared bathroom facilities. You'd have to buy all your own stuff, though :)
One of my friends lived near Kuta for 350k/month and another lived between Poppies I and II for 500k/month
But, you are only likely to find them when you are there and you'll have to ask around as they are rarely advertised.
