in Kuta: Satriya Cottages, beach end of Poppies 11. Excellent position, good rates in origial room (new section more expensive, up to your budget). Quiet grounds, lovely pool & step outside to the shopping, restaurants etc of Poppies 1 & 11.
In Legian: Puri Raja is beachfront, great pools (2), restaurant, ambience etc.
Rama Garden, just stayed there 1st time. Boutique style encourages interaction between guests (if that interests you). Gr8 restaurant facing Jl Padma. Rooms original, rates a bit higher.
Losari, in Garlic Lane - looked at it whilst there & seems OK, good rates.
