Flew out of Perth with Pacific Blue, left on time, good flight. Movies, food and drink purchased with credit card, they don't accept cash.
Touched down on time, through airport fairly smoothly, taxi to Jayakarta Hotel. First time we've stayed at this hotel and at this end of town so all very new and exciting. Hotel was good, breakfast was fine, we always went to the smaller dining area on the beach as it was less busy, sometimes was lucky to have an outside table with lovely ocean breeze. Will be staying here again in August so am happy that I now know where cheap laundry, fave restaurants are etc... Hubby hired a motorbike and now I am planning to get my m/bike licence so we can ride together.
It was lovely to sit at the beach bars and watch the sun go down and enjoy a bintang while getting hassled by the beach sellers. (Well, maybe not that part).
I have to tell you about 'High Tea' in Bali. We went to Biku Teahouse in Seminyak and had high tea for two (3 tiers) and 11yr old son had his own childs high tea(2 tiers). So many tea's to choose from and they come around and continually top up your teapot with water. It was a great treat and so cheap compared to back home. Will definetly be taking the girls there in August.
Restaurants we ate at were: TJ's, Flying Piano, Bubba Gumps, La Monde and at the hotel restaurant one night as son wasn't feeling so well.
We hired a driver and went to Ubud for a day, have to say I am over the markets and won't be shopping there anymore. We visited the monkey forest but didn't take food with us, I didn't feel like being mobbed by monkeys this time. Also had a beautiful lunch at Nero's I think the place was called, pumpkin ravioli, delicious. We also called into a silver shop where we did a tour of the workshop first and then looked at the finished jewellry. OMG, the jewellry was beautiful, lots of dragonflys incorporated into the designs. Will be taking more money and going back in August for sure.
Hubby booked in for more tattoos at Ibud Tattoo, just near Jayakarta, he is happy with them.
We had some fantastic foot massages, the best being Santai Spa on Jl Padma Utara, We paid a bit more but the spa is first class and while we were there we had a look through the Rumah Santai Villas located just off Jl Padma Utara. They were absolutely beautiful, I'm trying to talk hubby into staying there next year for a few nights, fingers crossed.
Went to Bintang Supermarket for the first time, what a great little place. Stocked up on the haircare & beauty products. I've decided in future never to take over my own, I'll just go straight there and buy. Asked where Animale was and was happy to find out it was almost next door so of course had a browse there and made a few purchases.
Son came down with an ear infection the day before we where due to fly home so off to the chemist for antibiotics and eardrops, 3rd time this has happened so in future he will be wearing earplugs. Thought about delaying our departure but son assured me he would be ok, so I made sure I had nurofen on me on the plane home but everything was ok.
Departed Bali on time, through Perth in record time and looking forward to August. Thanks for reading.
