This Forum has enough rose tinted glasses. A touch of reality, written with enough humour to read the entire post, should be required reading.
I first touched the fabled shores more than 30 years ago and am amazed how the " My grandmother died for the 4th time this year give me money for the cremation" story's evolve.
Last year a guy we treated like family for 13 years showed where he was coming from. I am embarrassed to say how many thousand dollars it cost to get him out of our lives.
We felt so stupid that after all these years when we thought we knew all the scams, we found we didn't and we meant nothing more to this man than a hole in the wall you punch numbers in and get money out.
Everyone who is enchanted by the magic of Bali needs to understand that things are normally not the way they seem.
