The local people in that area are not the nicest of folk. There are two other small ports. Try Teluk Kodek or Teluk Nara.
Rather that wait for a public boat to fill up with tourists you can charter a boat to Gili T from these two places. It makes life a lot more peaceful.
A taxi from Mataram airport to these ports should be around 90,000 rupiah.
Flights from Lombok to Bali are often cancelled or delayed. When returning allow yourself extra time.
