unfortunately there is a segment of airport workers in many countries who see travellers as easy pickings. Because many people are in holiday mode and / or don't really know all the rules etc. I guess all we can do is try to be as informed as possible and do what we can so as not to give them an opportunity to hassle us or rip us off. I guess its a cost of exploring new countries.
