The atm machine will have a sticker on it somewhere, if not removed, saying what it dispenses as in rupiah notes. Once your card is in it will ask you what language. It asks how much in Rupiah, so figure that out before you start. Some machines will allow up to 3 million rupiahs at a time, others a lot less. Your bank will determine the rate of exchange and the fees. Exchange rate is usually quite good I have found. It is slightly lower than cash exchange but we're talking like at the most a couple of a dollars.
REMEMBER your card comes out last of the machine and your pin number is in the machine, so if you forget it someone can come along and withdraw all your money.
