I'd like to recommend the Gajah Mina resort at Balian. They have a very good website if you'd like to have a look. Gajah has a very nice little restaurant, but at Balian, as well as many of the more remote areas of Bali, we have never found the variety of restaurants that you get, say in Sanur.
Gajah is a short walk from the Balian beach, where you have a number of small cafes beachside tho.
Not a great distance from Sanur, we have stayed for over a week, but even a few days is nice.
