...the confusion arises because the Balinese use 2 different systems; a very ancient one, imported from India and following the Lunar cycle, and a purely ritual calendar which entered Bali with the Javanese, perhaps 13th century. The ritual calender is 210 days long & does not keep track of years. The lunar does, and more or less equals a Solar year (after many computational adjustments) Nyepi is the start of the Lunar year. At present, it is 1933.
