I know people who have entries in the both the Lonely Planet & Rough Guide - just thrilled to be included & no money changed hands. Info was based on anonymous experiences.
I never go to Bali (or anywhere o/s) without the latest LP or RG. Always full of great info. Not only about hotels, restaurants etc but about the culture, customs, ways to get around etc etc. Anyone who wants to get away from the tourist strip of Tuban to Seminyak is well advised to have a guide book.
