You seem to contradict yourself. You say that you don't feel that you are "above these rules",
however you say "In Bali, it's because they're all bent that I know I can get away with it if I want to try it on".
Which seems to indicate that you feel that you can disregard a law that you don't agree with "If you want to try it on"

Does this mean that if you want to break a law it is Ok as long as there are corrupt officials that you can bribe? And does this extend to any law that you don't agree with or is this a selective judgement.

My point was that there would be no corrupt officials (or at least a lot less)if people did not disregard the law of whatever country they are visiting and then bribe there way out of the consequenses.
