You should be able to buy your dutyfree and take on board, yes. You can however only bring in the amount allowed by Australia. Make sure when you purchase it in Bali airport though that it is definetely duty free and not given you til you are about to board the plane. Usually after the final checkpoint you will find a desk/table with somebody handing out the already wrapped and sealed dutyfree packages to their owners......do not try and carry it from the shop and through all the checkpoints as yes it will be taken off you.
