It is a gift from a traveller to someone that didn't travel.
It could be that someone from Kuta went for a trip to Ubud and bought some bananas when they were there. When they returned home to Kuta they gave them to their neighbour. That is an oleh oleh.
Some people confuse oleh oleh with birthday presents or even bribes.
