You may find that Virgin ex ADL have a problem. THEY dont decide WHEN they can arrive at a given destination. They (Virgin - in this case) are advised by the receiving airport when that receiving airport has a Gate Vacancy. Given that - from ADL - they have only 3 flights per week (BUT very soon to be 4 per week), Virgin has to compete for the gates - and subsequent arrival times that are scheduled by the receiving airports. Its all about tarmac space, turn-around time etc on arrival.
As Bali is now a very much sought after travel destination for worldwide visitors particularly from S.E. Asia and Europe, 3x 737-800s per week from ADL, pale into insiginificance against AirBus, Boeing 777s and Jumbo's from Japan, Korea and Europe.
Whilst we Aussies tend to regerd Bali as "Ours" in fact It's Not!! It belongs to Indonesia, and as such they decide who comes in and when.
I understand your concern, as my family are in the very same "boat" in May ex ADL. At the end of the day, you will "loose" about 4 hours in Bali. Enjoy your time there.
