This was written for a young person travelling for their first time on their own....excuse personal bits...hope it helps....

Perth to Bali.
Queue at Garuda economy counter, hand over passport and tickets, put suitcase on weighing scales, keep hand luggage to self. Ask for the seat pre-booked by your mum, make sure it is close to front of plane and on the aisle......you can be first off then. Get your passport back and your boarding ticket which will show your seat number and your gate number for boarding the plane.
Go upstairs and through to the immigration area, show boarding ticket to man on door, go through and queue to see immigration man, hand over passport and immigration form (green/white), smile/chat. Then follow through to the x-ray area. Put hand luggage on conveyor belt and anything in pockets in basket to go through conveyor x-ray. Walk through x-ray, collect your luggage and bits and bobs. Walk on around to escalator and go upstairs to departure lounge. You may get chosen for a random test, the test people will check your bag and maybe yourself. Find the boarding gate you need and sit and wait. Use toilet if need to, fill up water bottle at water fountain, shop if you must. If you want duty free booze, now is the time to buy it to take to Bali and to buy it so that you can collect it on your return. They will keep your purchases until your return trip. They will give you your purchases for Bali and you will be able to carry it on plane. Keep your receipts in a safe place. If you lose your receipt you won't be able to collect your booze when you return back to Australia.
When boarding starts go and queue and show your boarding ticket. Find your seat, settle in, pack stuff in overhead locker if needed or between your legs. During the flight you will have to fill in forms, one for health (yellow), one for immigration (white) and one for declarations (red). Remember the country visiting is Indonesia, Bali is an Island. You can put the Ida Hotel, Kuta, down as your address in Bali. You are staying for 6 nights. Fill all forms in as well as you can and truthfully, any questions maybe ask the person next to you or go up to the stewardess and ask. Do not leave anything off until you land as this will hold you up.
Once landed, get your stuff ready and get off as fast as you can, if you have not got the forms on the plane you may have to get them from someone as you leave the plane. Grab them quick and follow the people and signs to Visa On Arrival booths. On the way you will be asked for your health form (yellow) and maybe asked to walk through a scanner, this is to check for swine flu! Down some escalators, pay your $25.00 US money to the Visa On Arrival person, they may ask how long you stay, say 6 nights, get your receipt from them. Then queue for the immigration booths. Hopefully get one that is manned and ready to go. Hand over your passport and immigration forms (white), not the declaration form (red). Get your passport sticker put in and then head to the luggage carousels. If you have suitcase this is where you collect it, if you need a trolley go to end of hall to get one, say no thank you to all the porters who want to help. When you have all your stuff go to declaration men, put all your luggage including hand luggage onto conveyor belt to go back through x-ray machines hand over declaration form (red), they may want you to open up your bags, they may ask how much alcohol you have, just do as told, walk through and around the corner and we will be there.

Bali to Perth:-
Show your ticket to man and go through x-ray, bags on conveyor, bits and bobs in basket. Collect all your stuff and go queue at Garuda economy counter. Put suitcase on weighing scale and keep hand luggage. Hand over passport and ticket. Get passport and boarding pass back. This will show your seat number and gate number to queue at for plane.
Go to escalators and go up, pay your departure tax 150,000 rupiah and get receipt. Queue at immigration, hand over passport, departure tax receipt and boarding pass. Collect everything back off him and walk on through to departure lounge.
You may get asked by an official looking person here about departure lounges, check with them if your boarding gate is close to their lounge. They will say a price and you say I have only 150,000 rupiah. They will take you to their lounge, ask where is your gate from here. If you think it is close enough then pay the money and go in. Look out for gate numbers so that you know where to go back to.
If you don't get asked:-
Check where your boarding gate is. Then ask for Prada lounge (downstairs) or Dewi lounge (same floor looking out to runway), find out which one is closest to your departure gate. Pay 150,000 rupiah to get into the one closest to your gate. You can ask anyone that looks official or someone in a shop or another passenger. You can then sit in this lounge, free food, drink, internet and shower until your flight is called, they should tell you when you should go but keep an eye on the time in case they forget.
Once your flight is called go to the gate, you may have to queue again. Show your passport and boarding pass. Go through more x-rays, they will take any drinks off you here, even water. Wait in this last departure lounge until called to board your flight, you cannot buy anything or get drinks in here.
