You will undoubtedly be coming in from an International flight so will use Terminal 2. They have just completed new VOA counters and I found Immigration to be an absolute breeze - from aircraft to exit doors in 7 minutes (carry-on only). If you are in transit to Bali and using Garuda Indonesia right through, you will probably not need to clear Immigration as you will remain in transit and do this in Bali.

If however you are flying Jakarta to Bali with another carrier, you will need to change terminal - Mandala and Air Asia Indonesia use the new Terminal 3 whilst all other domestic carriers use the old Terminal 1.

If you are remaining in Terminal 2, I recommend you use the JW Executive Lounge whilst in transit. Cost per person is Rp.50,000 which includes a selection of foods (hot/cold) - not brilliant but certainly adequate for money - plus beverages and free Bintang Beer.

Even if you don't get to use the lounge on your inward transit, it will certainly be a good option for you when returning home through Jakarta. The JW Lounge is opposite the Garuda Executive Lounge in Terminal 2 - section E.
