Then they have a place to go to on arrival & can look around. Although, as has been said, it's a busy time. And it's a pain having to spend the first few days of a holiday finding a hotel to move to. They could perhaps book somewhere & if they find some place they prefer it probably wouldn't be a huge inconvenience for the original hotel if they moved out early.
