Although I do know of a similar situation that ended in a "bite the hand that feeds you" a driver in Bali helped to get a business up and running with a car and great for the first 2 years until he decided short cheaper runs and being on call for gratitude were not worth while because money could be made much easier out of other tourists.
Not to say this will happen in your case as Danny is a good friend of yours.
